Electric Boat Quonset Point
Electric Boat Quonset Point, located on Narragansett Bay in North Kingstown, RI, is responsible for submarine steel processing, hull fabrication, module assembly and outfitting. This 400-acre facility is home to over 7,000 skilled workers who apply their skills to manufacturing major submarine components.
Submarine construction begins at Quonset Point, where individual sections of a submarine hull, known as modules, are fabricated and outfitted. Completed modules are then shipped via barge to Electric Boat’s Groton, Connecticut, shipyard or construction partner Newport News Shipbuilding for final assembly and testing.
Quonset Point has been fabricating and delivering modules for over 50 years, playing a key role in providing the U.S. Navy with the most advanced and capable submarines in the world. By applying unique construction technologies that maximize the workforce's multifaceted skills, the facility has contributed to a revolution in submarine construction and developed a reputation as the crown jewel of the U.S. Submarine Industrial Base. The facility’s team-driven organization continues to play a pivotal role in submarine construction and the security of our nation.
