Sheet Metal Worker

A worker in this trade performs shipboard installation of ventilation ducting and joiner work. Joiner work includes lockers, “furniture,” non-structural prefabricated bulkheads (partitions forming the various submarine compartments and spaces), doors, composite materials, and stainless steel trim. The sheet metal worker build and finishes the inside of the submarine using skills similar to a carpenter doing “finish” work on a house. Blueprint reading/interpretation, measurements, template and layout skills are important to a sheet metal worker’s trade.
