Rotation for Technical Development The purpose of the Rotation Program for Engineers is to provide a career enhancement opportunity through work experience in their home department and other engineering organizations. The Rotation Program offers engineers with nine months to five years' experience the opportunity to gain work experience in areas other than their home departments and groups. In addition to gaining a new perspective, rotation assignments serve as a vehicle for meeting people, establishing key job-related contacts, and developing interpersonal relationships. Assignments typically will last about six months. Assignment decisions will be made considering both the business need and the career benefit of building an engineer's knowledge base and diversity of experience. In every decision, the individual's qualifications, aptitude and interests must be considered before the assignment is confirmed. The goals of this program:
Rotation for Professional Development This position of up to two years offers engineers and other salaried employees the opportunity to expand their professional development skills. Rotational assignments may include the following areas: shipyard operations, finance, program office, business development, process engineering, audit and assessment, process engineering and leadership development. Also, rotations may include other Electric Boat sites, including Quonset Point R.I., Norfolk VA., Puget Sound, WA., and Bath ME. Individuals may be responsible for directing the activities of a crew of trade's people or may be assigned a technical process improvement project as it applies to ship's construction. Individuals will interface with engineering, ship's management, planning, other trades and the Navy customer. Candidates will be responsible for ensuring work is performed efficiently and in accordance with ship's drawings/work procedures and company policies. This position of up to two years offers candidates the professional opportunity to expand their skills and knowledge in leading a team, constructing the product, and adding to their technical expertise. Candidates must be highly motivated, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to accomplish multiple tasks with minimum guidance. A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience with 1-5 years engineering experience is desired. The goals of this program:
