Painter

The purpose of paint preservation of the submarine hull and components is to prevent corrosion, protect equipment against salt water, prevent the accumulation of marine life, and to provide the crew with the most pleasant surrounding possible. Painters are responsible for surface preparation and application of a variety of paints and finishes such as baked on plastic and vinyl spray. Because the weight of the paint is a significant factor in submarine construction, paint thickness is carefully measured and documented. This requirement makes it essential that the painters constantly maintain a high level of quality when performing their craft.
