Electric Boat Community Service
Electric Boat is very active in the local and regional community. Employees are active in many local and national efforts. Two of the major programs that receive significant support are the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut and the Heart Walk, benefiting the American Heart Association.
We sponsor an annual drive to support the United Way in Southeastern Connecticut, which allocates 90 cents of every dollar it collects. Drives are held encouraging employees to share. Electric Boat employees donated $1.35 million during the latest campaign.
Electric Boat is also a significant supporter and participant in the Heart Walk, a local event that raises money for the American Heart Association. Employees form fund raising teams within the company, and garner donations from friends, family and each other. Electric Boat employees raised over $40,815 for the 2007 Heart Walk.
Several local groups benefit from the generosity of Electric Boat and our employees, such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Child and Family Agency, Hospice of Southeastern Connecticut, Connecticut Sports Foundation for Cancer, Garde Arts Center, Eastern Connecticut Symphony, Hygienic Arts, Children's Museum of Southeastern Connecticut.
Our employees organize Toys for Children that collects hundreds of toys and raises $10,000 a year and our Cancer Society Daffodil Days raised more than $125,000.
Electric Boat hosts four blood drives a year, that have raised as many as 2,500 units a year. |
