Black Engineering Council at Electric Boat

The Black Engineering Council (BEC) is an organization run by Electric Boat employees who work with the Human Resources departments on effective methods for recruiting, retaining and developing Black engineering and design employees. The vision of the BEC is to achieve:

• An environment that supports open communication providing its members with timely and accurate information.

• An environment that ensures the acclimation of Black engineering and design personnel at all levels of management and also ensures that areas identified as being underrepresented are addressed.

• A sense of unity that evolves from the organizational culture and identification with goals and objectives of the Company.

• An environment where people are treated fairly with respect, dignity, and trust; where diversity is celebrated, employee development is encouraged and where capability and excellent performance results are emphasized.
